# Fixing your AI assistant connection

AI ASSISTANTS · 6 MIN READ

Most of the time, connecting PinSuite to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor takes a minute and just works. When it does not, it is usually one of a handful of things. Here they are, roughly in the order they come up.

If none of this helps, [email us](mailto:support@pinsuite.app?subject=AI%20assistant%20connection). We usually reply within a few hours.

## PinSuite is not showing up in my chat

You added the connector, but your assistant acts like it does not exist.

**Check you finished the sign-in.** Adding the address is only half of it. A PinSuite screen should have opened asking you to approve access. If you closed that window, or a pop-up blocker stopped it, the connector is added but not switched on. Remove it, add it again, and this time let the approval screen finish.

**Check the address is exactly right.** It should be:

```
https://pinsuite.app/mcp
```

No trailing slash, no `www`. A single wrong character and nothing happens.

**Start a new chat.** Most assistants only pick up a newly added connector in a fresh conversation. An open chat will not see it.

**Then just ask.** Try "what PinSuite tools do you have?" If it lists things like saving a URL and browsing your library, you are connected and the problem was somewhere else.

## I approved access but nothing happened

You clicked Allow, the window closed, and you were left staring at your assistant.

This usually means the approval went through but your assistant was not told. Go back to your connector settings and look at PinSuite. If it shows as connected, you are fine: start a new chat and try asking it something.

If it still shows as disconnected, remove it and add it again. The second attempt almost always sticks.

**One thing to know:** if you have added and removed the connector several times in quick succession, you may hit a limit. We only allow a new client to register five times an hour from the same internet connection, which is there to stop abuse. Wait an hour and try once more, carefully.

## It says I need to pay

Two different things cause this, and they are worth telling apart.

**You are trying to export.** Exports, whether ZIP, PDF, CSV or HTML, need a paid plan. Saving and browsing do not. If you asked your assistant to export a collection and got a payment message, that is why.

**You have used up your free saves.** The free plan includes 25 saves in total. Saves made through your assistant count against the same 25 as saves made on the website: it is one pool, not two. Once they are gone, saving stops until you upgrade.

Everything you have already saved stays yours either way. We do not delete saved content when you run out of room, or if you later downgrade.

## It will not save my private or secret board

This one is not a fault. It is a limit worth knowing about.

Your assistant reaches PinSuite over the internet, not from inside your browser. Pinterest does not show private or secret boards to anyone who is not signed in as you, so there is nothing for us to fetch.

**Use the browser extension instead.** Open the board on Pinterest while you are signed in, click the [PinSuite extension](/guides/chrome-extension), and it imports through your own session. The board never changes visibility, and your Pinterest password never leaves your browser.

Once it is in your library, your assistant can do everything else with it: search it, pull it up, queue an export.

## It worked, then stopped

**"Too many requests."** There are limits on how fast things can run: 60 requests a minute overall, and 60 saves an hour.

The one that catches people out: **the hourly save limit is shared with the browser extension.** If you have been bulk-saving boards with the extension, your assistant will hit the ceiling too, even though it is a different tool. Same account, same allowance. Wait an hour.

Previews are capped separately at 30 a minute, which you would only reach by asking it to check a lot of boards very fast.

**It is asking me to sign in again.** Normally you sign in once and stay signed in for around three months. If you are being asked again sooner, something interrupted it, usually a connector that was removed and re-added, or the same account signed in from somewhere unusual.

For safety, when we see a sign-in that looks reused or tampered with, we sign that client out completely rather than take a chance. Signing in again fixes it. If it keeps happening, tell us.

## It saved fewer pins than the board has

Big boards import in the background, so give it a minute. A 200-pin board takes about a minute; a few thousand pins takes longer. Your assistant tells you it has started, not that it has finished, so check your library rather than the chat.

If the count is still short after that, some pins on the board may have been deleted at the source, or point to media Pinterest no longer serves. Nothing we can pull back. Ask us and we will take a look at the specific board.

## It says it cannot handle this link

We save Pinterest and Instagram links, and we archive ordinary web pages. If you paste something else, such as a video site, a shopping cart, or a page behind a login, your assistant will say it cannot use it.

Worth checking the link opens in a normal browser window with you signed out. If it does not, we cannot reach it either.

## How do I disconnect it, or switch accounts

Remove PinSuite from your assistant's connector settings. That stops that app from reaching your library.

To cut off access from our side instead, go to your [account integrations page](/account/integrations). You can see what is connected and revoke anything you do not recognise or do not use any more.

To switch to a different PinSuite account, revoke first, then add the connector again and sign in as the account you want.

## Cursor or Codex will not open the sign-in screen

Terminal and editor tools sometimes cannot open a browser window for you.

If the sign-in never appears, use a Personal Access Token instead. Create one on your [account integrations page](/account/integrations) and give it to your tool as the access token. It skips the browser step entirely.

Treat it like a password: anyone holding it can reach your library. You can revoke it from the same page whenever you like.

## Still stuck?

[Email support@pinsuite.app](mailto:support@pinsuite.app?subject=AI%20assistant%20connection) and mention which assistant you are using and what you asked it to do. If you saw an error message, paste it in. Even the number is useful.
